Dr. Gil Rendle Learning and Leadership Endowment

Gil Rendle is an author, speaker, facilitator, and influential thought leader who has spent more than 40 years working across the religious landscape, first as a United Methodist pastor and then as a consultant. For the last 11 years, Gil has worked as a senior vice president of TMF’s Leadership Ministry facilitating conversations with denominational leaders on how to lead courageously in today’s rapidly changing cultural and spiritual environment.
Gil previously worked for 12 years with the Alban Institute (now Alban at Duke Divinity School) as an author and seminar leader. He has written eight books, including Holy Conversations: Strategic Planning as a Spiritual Practice for Congregations; Journey in the Wilderness: New Life for Mainline Churches; Back to Zero: The Search to Rediscover the Methodist Movement; and Doing the Math of Mission: Fruits, Faithfulness and Metrics.
During his long and distinguished career, Gil has asked dozens of frame-bending questions and initiated hundreds of provocative conversations that have created an environment in which systemic change can occur. In fact, major changes at the denominational level, such as mission field appointments, can be directly linked to ideas that grew out of Gil’s Leadership Ministry work with Bishop and District Superintendent groups.
In recognition and celebration of all that Gil Rendle has done for the church, TMF is proud to announce the creation of the Gil Rendle Learning and Leadership Endowment. The endowment will honor Gil's legacy by supporting his work to create opportunities for TMF to open new paths of discernment, decision-making, and action by leaders in connection with TMF's Leadership Ministry.
